Writing support

You are about to write your study or project thesis? Are you just starting your Bachelor's or Master's thesis? Do you need help with writing scientific texts? Then we have the right thing for you!

The division offers its students professional, individual writing support for academic papers. The writing training is aimed at students of the subjects Sustainable Resources and Energy Supply, Mineral Resources Engineering, Sustainable Energy Supply and Environmental Engineering who already have a topic and a supervising assistant.

Individual writing supervision (for students NREV, ROI, NEV and UIW)

Individual writing supervision has been offered since 2007. Individual assistance in writing scientific papers is given in one-to-one meetings. Supervision is offered throughout the entire processing period, i.e. from registration to submission. The writing support is not a proofreading service, but rather an advisory service.

Registration for individual writing support takes place via a registration form. The limited number of places will be allocated chronologically according to the date of registration. Please send the registration form to .

Writing seminars

Compact Course - Scientific Writing (New!!!! For students NREV, ROI, NEV and UIW)

The course deals with basic questions and problems of writing scientific texts.

Topics include:

  • the writing process - preparing, writing, revising
  • Writing tools - dictionary, word processing etc.
  • Writing style, writing conventions
  • formulating, rephrasing
  • Stumbling blocks in spelling and grammar

The topics covered will be illustrated by practical writing exercises and error analyses. The prerequisite for successful participation is therefore active participation and the willingness to write short texts.

No credit points are awarded for the course. Therefore, the course cannot be credited towards achievements in the degree programme.

Compact Course Researching, Excerpting and Quoting (New!!!! For students NREV, ROI, NEV and UIW)

The course will cover basic questions and problems of dealing with scientific sources.

Topics include:

  • Searching for sources
  • Source selection
  • Creating notes and abstracts
  • Managing sources
  • Citing sources

The topics covered will be illustrated through practical exercises and error analysis.

No credit points are awarded for the course. Therefore, the course cannot be counted towards achievements in the degree programme.
