As part of the university-wide concept for an improvement of the academic education „Zukunftskonzept exzellente Lehre“, the RWTH Aachen University developed the „Aachener Mentoring Modell“ which aims at increasing students' satisfaction, reducing the duration of studies and diminishing the drop-out rate by early and individual counselling and support.

The main target group in the mentoring system are Bachelor students, who experience delays in their study progress as well as particularly talented students, who are interested in additional information about grants e.g scholarships.

What does Mentoring mean and who are the counselors?

The mentoring program of the Faculty of Mineral Recources and Engineering aims at counselling and supporting the students troughout their studies.
In confidential conversations you will have the oppurtunity to discuss personal subjects influencing your studies.

The mentors Carolina Brücker and Markus Lang offer one-on-one conversations in which all study course-related questions are being answered. This is offered to all students of the department and is subjected to confidentiality.

The Mentoring conversation

In the first meeting the focus is in the understanding of the students personal situation and his or her questions and challenges regarding his or her studies. The solutions concepts for the future study course structure will be developed together accordingly.

The mentors consider themselves as dialog partners and coaches for all your questions regarding your studies. Furthermore, they serve as guides to further counselling services in and outside of the RWTH.
