Research into new types of mineral resource and energy technologies at the the Nivelstein sand works
A secure and sustainable supply of the necessary mineral resources is one of the major social challenges of our time. The RWTH's Nivelstein Real Laboratory on the site of the Nivelsteiner Sandwerke und Sandsteinbrüche GmbH in Herzogenrath is used to research new technologies for a sustainable mineral resource and energy supply.
Through such a real laboratory in active mining operations, novel technologies on the way to autonomous, energy-efficient and CO2-neutral raw material production can be developed and tested in a real mine environment.
Research and industry are directly interlinked, thus not only promoting effective technology and knowledge transfer, but also enabling practice-based, competence-oriented university teaching.
The maximum number of participants is 15.
