"We are doing our Erasmus stay at Aalto University in Finland and have made the best decision of our lives. Finnish culture is characterised by countless sauna sessions, reindeer and moose, good home-cooked food, beautiful national parks and natural spectacles like the Northern Lights, but also cold snowy days. Student life here is never boring. The so-called 'Guilds', which are comparable to student fraternities, organise weekly events such as galas, game nights, sauna parties, sports and quiz tournaments, international DJs and gigs like 'Cascada', but also events where you can get to know Finnish culture such as famous songs, Finnish food and drink. There is also a student club for every taste, such as climbing, poker, drama and dance clubs, as well as choirs, LAN parties and many more. The capital of Finland, Helsinki, is only a 10-minute bus ride from campus. If you ever want to get off campus, you can go sightseeing there, linger in one of the many delicious restaurants and cafés, take a sauna by the Baltic Sea or even go shopping in one of the several shopping malls. If you ever want to see something other than Helsinki, it's a good idea to explore the neighbouring countries of Sweden, Russia or Estonia or visit Santa Claus' hometown in northern Lapland."

Many thanks to Carolina and Paul for this detailed experience report. We wish you a great stay in Finland!
