Industry contact exchange "The future of steel"

22/07/2022

The conversion of the steel industry to "green steel" is a hot topic in politics and in the media. But how are the goals and requirements implemented in the company?

On Monday, July 18, industry representatives from ThyssenKrupp and Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann presented their companies' strategies and approaches for achieving the climate targets in short presentations. The teaching and research area Technology of Energy Resources (TEER) then gave an overview of how research at RWTH is involved in these topics and how the university and industry work together.

The contact exchange served to give students the opportunity to gain an insight into industry and research, but also to have direct discussions with all the experts. After the short presentations, an open question and answer session was opened. During the discussion, the students asked the experts questions about the political and technical implementation options for the company's goals. After the lively discussion, concluding talks were held over snacks and drinks.

We would like to thank all speakers and visitors and look forward to the next networking event!
