20th ABK on July 9th, 2019 - Coal withdrawal up and running
Since the recommendations of the Coal Commission of February 26th 2019, the phase-out of coal has been underway until 2038. From then on, coal-fired power generation will no longer be considered; until then, it will be continuously reduced. What consequences will this have for the energy supply, for further open pit lignite mining and for the affected regions?
Brandenburg and North Rhine-Westphalia are particularly affected. For this reason, the topic will be examined primarily from the perspective of these two federal states. Numerous support measures are planned. Do they stand up to EU state aid control? What impact will the ECJ ruling on the German EEG of March 28th 2019 have on this?
The individual areas are again dealt with from different perspectives; the focus is on politics, administration, business and science. An interdisciplinary exchange should enable an objective discussion on this issue, which is essential for our country, of a profound transformation not only of energy supply, but also of the economy and social structures.
